Things have been super busy around here these past few days. Between hauling out packaged fish for clients and daily clean up and prep chores, we managed to pull the little boat from the water to scrape the bottom of barnacles and algae. Not a pleasant job but sure makes the other garbage and propane duties much faster to and from the lodge!
The little boat is now called The Safari Otter after many early years of wearing a yellow stripe from the stern curving up at the bow, and then fondly called The Banana. Now with the “no bananas” hype for bad luck when fishing; a few years back, I had scraped and stripped the yellow paint leaving it bare aluminium. There has been a few discussions on the origin of the banana theory, linking back to spiders in the banana crates killing the crew. Whatever the story, it’s a great little run-a-bout work boat and the girls enjoy their little trips from the lodge in the evening to dump the compost while Meaghan plays a little guitar to practice.
